Instructions for BWS
performance suspension products

Completely read these instructions before installation

Broadway Suspension cannot be held responsible for damage to suspension components, vehicle, or injury to persons. Similarly, the warranty will become null and void if the instructions are not adhered to.

Attention !!!

1. Please study and make sure that you fully understand all the instructions and the user's brochure before handling this suspension kit. If you have any questions regarding proper installation procedures, contact Broadway Suspension or a qualified shop.
2. When installing Broadway Suspension's product, the operator shall wear gloves to avoid the risk of hand injury.
3. The top hat used in this shock must be Broadway Suspension's original component.
4. Broadway Suspension components and tools should not be used with other brands of suspension.
5. Broadway Suspension shall not take any liability for damage to the shock or accidents that are caused by other brand components being used with this shock. Be sure to observe local relevant vehicle regulations about usage of adjustable shock absorbers.
6. Broadway Suspension shall not be held liable for any violation against local vehicle regulations or laws.
7. According to the installation instructions, avoid rough road surfaces.
8. Make sure that no components are loose and that oil is not leaking.
9. Tighten up all components with specified torque regularly.
10. When a suitable height is determined, it should be tested and calibrated.

During storage and transportation, especially at high temperatures, some oil and grease used during assembly may run out inside the package. This is not unusual and is in no way detrimental to the suspension components.

Note !

Damping Adjustment

When the product is delivered from the factory, the dampers are set at full soft. Make sure that all bolts are tightened to the correct torque spec and that nothing fouls or restricts movement of the shock absorber when the suspension is being fully compressed or extended.

Preload Settings

Having the correct preload tension on the front shocks is imperative. Preload tension prevents spring bind or spring noises:¼ inch of preload (compression) is required on the front springs. To achieve¼ of preload measure the springs uncompressed. Most applications use front springs that are 7 or 6 inches long. For example after the preload is set on an 7-inch spring, the new total length should be 6¾ inches. Rear preload should be set snug to the spring perch, and should not exceed 1 /8 of an inch.

Applications with rear divorced spring setups have the spring mounted on a separate adjustable spring perch. Setting the proper spring pre-load on a divorced spring setup is achieved by setting the ride height with the rear spring and spring perch assembly first. Once the ride height is set with the spring, the shock should be extended so that there is no slack and the spring is pre-loaded exactly to the shock length.

Note !

Ride Height Adjustment

• Double wishbone suspension: make sure to leave at least 25mm of threaded body inside the lower mount for safety. Mcpherson suspension: make sure to leave 50mm of threaded body inside the lower mount for safety.
 • Please ensure the lower locking collar is tightened before driving.

Note !

ALWAYS adjust the coil over height from the lower shock mount labeled (A), not from spring seat labeled (B). By doing this, you will not tamper with the suspension travel.

You can adjust the position of the bracket after you install the system on the car. The measurement that you take on the coilover is not necessarily going to apply to the height of the vehicle.

You may need to repeat these steps a few times until you achieve desired height

At any height, the distance of (X) must always be equal when adjusting the vehicle height. The best way to fine tune your suspension damping is usually the trial and error method, since comfort level is relative to the vehicle's driver.

Note !

Mounting Instructions

Lift the car so the front wheels are clear of the ground. Make sure it's steadily fixed so it will not fall down.

1. It's advisable to have a qualified person fit your shock absorber.
2. Instructions in the vehicle service manual are to be followed when changing the shock absorber.
3. When working on a lifted vehicle, it must be securely supported to prevent it from falling.

Caution !!!

! Important Mounting Details !

1. The shock absorber will be coated with a lubricant at the factory to protect against rusting, which isn't leaked fluid.
2. After the height is adjusted, be sure that the locking ring has been tightened.
3. Dirt or small pebbles may attach to the spring perches, as well as the threads of the shock body, which may also cause damage if not cleaned.

Note !

Do not use the adjustment wrench to lock the lower bracket, it is only used to adjust the ride height. If the lower bracket is tightened by the adjustment wrench it WILL COME LOOSE! Use a screwdriver and hammer to lock the locking collars (spring perch & lower collar), as shown in the adjacent image.
